PathwAI's Stripe integration puts a Stripe card form inside a flow step through the Payment block. The step either saves the card to a Stripe customer so it can be charged later, or charges a fixed amount on the spot. Your publishable and secret keys are stored per environment in Integrations, and the secret key never reaches the browser. When the card is saved or the charge succeeds, the flow moves on by itself.
What data moves
- PathwAI to Stripe: the customer email, used to create or match a Stripe customer. The respondent types card details into Stripe's own Payment Element.
- Stripe to PathwAI: the status, customer ID, payment method ID and setup or payment intent ID, plus the amount and currency for a charge. Card numbers are never saved in the answer.
- PathwAI to your tracking: a successful charge produces a purchase event with the value, the currency and the payment intent ID as the order ID. Saving a card is not counted as a purchase.
Where it is configured
The workspace keys live under Integrations → Stripe, with separate Sandbox and Production keys. Each Payment step then picks Stripe as its processor and sets the environment, the mode (Save card or Charge now), the amount and currency, and the customer email.
Use cases
Charge a consult fee after intake
A weight-loss or HRT program charges a fixed fee right after eligibility and consent, so clinicians only review intakes from people who paid.
Save a card before clinical review
Save card stores the card on a Stripe customer without charging it. The program charges it from Stripe once a clinician has reviewed the case.
Different prices for different paths
The amount is fixed per step, so a flow with two plans routes each person to its own Payment step in the Logic tab.
Purchases counted once
The order ID travels with the purchase event. Meta, Google Ads and TikTok use it to avoid counting the same order twice when a browser tag also reports it.
How to set it up
- In Stripe, copy the publishable key and the secret key for test mode and for live mode.
- In PathwAI, open Integrations → Stripe and paste the keys for Sandbox and Production.
- Add a Payment step, choose Stripe as the processor, and pick Save card or Charge now.
- Point Customer email at an earlier email answer with a variable, and set the amount and currency for a charge.
- Test in Sandbox, where a skip link lets you run the rest of the flow without a card. Switch the step to Production before you publish.
Good to know
- Supported currencies are USD, EUR, GBP, CAD and AUD.
- The Payment block makes one-time charges and saves cards. It does not create Stripe subscriptions, Checkout Sessions or invoices.
Stripe integration FAQ
Does PathwAI store card numbers?
No. The respondent types card details into Stripe's own form. The answer saved on the submission holds Stripe IDs, the status and the amount, never the card number.
Can a PathwAI flow start a Stripe subscription?
The Payment block saves a card or makes a one-time charge. A program that bills monthly can save the card in the flow and set up the recurring billing in Stripe.
What happens when a payment fails?
The card form shows the error and the respondent stays on the step to try again. The step only moves on once the card is saved or the charge succeeds.
