PathwAI's Anthropic integration lets AI Scan steps analyze respondents' photos with Claude models. Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Claude Haiku 4.5 are offered in the step's model picker. Scans run only on your workspace's own Anthropic API key, saved once in Integrations, and Claude returns the output fields you define, such as a category, a number or a summary, which are saved on the submission.
What data moves
- Respondent to PathwAI: guided photos from the camera, or uploads if you allow them, stored in your workspace's assets.
- PathwAI to Anthropic: the photos, the step's prompt and the output fields, taken from the published flow on the server.
- Anthropic to PathwAI: the outputs, saved with the photo links, the model and the analysis time.
Where it is configured
The AI Scan step's Model setting picks a Claude model. A key icon shows whether Anthropic is connected, and Connect saves the key to Integrations for every AI Scan step.

Run the Wrinkles use case with a Claude model and show the result card before the next question.
Hair loss intake
Use the Hairline use case to capture two photos and return fields a provider reviews.
Outputs shown later in the flow
Each output is saved under its key and can be shown on later steps with a variable.
How to set it up
- Create an API key in the Anthropic Console.
- Add an AI Scan step and choose a use case.
- Pick a Claude model and click Connect to paste the key.
- Review the outputs and disclaimer, then test on a phone before publishing.
Good to know
- The built-in AI Scan prompts tell the model to describe what is visible and never to diagnose, name a disease or recommend a treatment. The result is a screening description for a provider to review, and the step shows a disclaimer you can edit.
- Routing conditions compare the whole scan answer, so they cannot branch on a single output such as severity.
